Mission

Strong TIES mission is to introduce, engage, and broaden participation of secondary and higher education learners, particularly underrepresented and historically underserved groups (Black/African-American, Latinx, Indigenous Americans and young ladies), in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math (STEAM) using culturally relevant and responsive tools through knowledge and skill-building services, events and programs.

Who We Are

Strong TIES creates learning pipelines and provides educational tools for diverse and marginalized communities through hands-on STEAM experiences. We address the gaps in STEAM education that disproportionately affect marginalized scholars through evidence-based programs that provide interactive educational and mentorship programs year-round. Our curriculum utilizes the arts to incorporate hip-hop, gaming, sports and entertainment to ignite passion for students as an entry point to STEAM. We are shaping the global future workforce by creating pathways for underrepresented scholars who may not have considered a career in STEAM.

We partner with domestic and global leaders in STEAM/STEM that include creative technologists, professionals, organizations and institutions for actionable impact. Our evidence-based programs, services and events broadens learners’ exposure to STEAM with a wide, diverse and innovative approaches not seen or experienced in formal academic education

We are open to all to learn and explore STEAM, yet at the center of our mission is to increase the number of historically underrepresented groups in STEAM disciplines and careers.
